Job Description



The Software Architect will take a leadership role in a variety of areas within GameStop IT systems, including current development/implementation projects.  The ideal candidate will possess a balance of development/technical savvy and team leadership skills and will excel at managing multiple projects.  The individual will participate in all phases of the software development process, from requirements analysis and design, and in some cases development, to testing and implementation.

This person will be accountable for defining customer requirements and implementing software solutions that exceed customers’ expectations.  Responsibilities include the following:

  • Experience working with Order Fulfillment and Order Management Systems
  • Working with integrations between multiple systems.
  • Utilizes creative thinking and problem-solving skills to design and implement robust, maintainable solutions that meet the established business requirements.
  • Establishes and enforces software development best practices.
  • Formulates and defines technical scope and objectives of project for project personnel.
  • Develops and maintains technical and project documentation.
  • Works with QA personnel to establish test plans.
  • Works with internal customers to establish and prioritize requirements.
  • Identifies and schedules project deliverables, milestones, and required tasks.
  • Develops project plans specifying goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, identification of risks, contingency plans and allotment of resources for each phase of the project, and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
  • Prepares project status reports and keeps management, clients, and others informed of project status and related issues.
  • Responsible for handling / overseeing more than one project at a time depending on scope of work of each project.
  • Effectively manages project scope and communicates impact of changes to management.
  • Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modify schedules and plans as required.
  • Position requires 100% management and team development tasks.  No coding is required.
  • Sets software development standards, working to standardize the IT development methods and practices.
  • Participates in project reviews of all projects through the ITG project management process.
  • Has sign-off authority from a project requirements standpoint.  Does content reviews of each project on the ITG list, ensuring that all projects are following published guidelines and standards.
  • Mentors other Project Managers in the proper techniques of project delivery.

Post-secondary educational degree or relevant level of experience in a technically related field.

Extensive experience supporting/implementing packaged systems is required.

Strong Development experience with Visual Basic, QB, SQL, .Net, etc…

Excellent communication skills and a friendly empathetic demeanor.

Strong written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to effectively manage a team of technical resources.
