Job Description


We are looking for an Associate Internal Auditor to add value and improve our operations by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes.  The successful candidate will possess knowledge of internal audit procedures, a sound judgement and be able to apply risk and control concepts to scenarios encountered, while identifying potential issues.  As part of the GME audit team, the Associate Internal Auditor is responsible for performing and completing internal audits under the supervision of the IT Internal Audit Manager.  The responsibilities will include assisting with planning, executing and reporting IT, operational, financial, and SOX related audits/projects to facilitate compliance with corporate and IIA/ISACA Standards.  Internal Auditors are expected to develop and demonstrate generalized knowledge of the retail industry and GameStop's business operations.

Work assignments are completed with supervision from experienced/senior team members. Work is moderate in scope and complexity.


Audit Execution and Project Management

  • Perform audit procedures and project management tasks related to IT, operational, financial, and SOX processes, including the following:
  • Assist with audit planning and drafting initial audit scope.
  • Document details of planning and walk through meetings.
  • Assist in identifying controls to mitigate potential risk factors within assigned process/areas.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of risk-based audit plans.
  • Understand the use and benefit of data analysis during the course of audits.
  • Develop, document and execute audit test steps in partnership with more senior team members.
  • Assist in evaluating controls and in identifying control gaps.
  • Document and maintain sufficient supporting information (such as flowcharts of end-to-end business processes) and facilitate the presentation of findings and conclusions in accordance with work paper standards. 
  • Identify and discuss audit findings with audit team and document exceptions.
  • Assist with drafting audit reports and key deliverables

Client Relationship Management

  • Model the high level of customer service expected of all GameStop associates including, but not limited to, responding to voice mails and emails within organizationally defined timeframes, completing projects as committed, responding to others’ feedback appropriately, and making optimal use of organizationally limited resources by offering assistance to other functional teams when appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain productive client and staff relationships through individual contacts and group meetings.
  • Work collaboratively and cross-functionally with other major business units throughout the GameStop organization.

People Management and Development

  • Collaborate and share knowledge with audit teams across the Internal Audit organization, as appropriate.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college with a degree in Business Administration (Accounting, Finance, Information Technology or related field) required 
  • Related graduate degree, certification (CPA, CIA, CISA, CFE or similar) is preferred
  • Must possess a valid U.S. passport or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of employment
  • Must be able to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally, as needed
