SUMMARY

Part of the Accounting department, the Transaction Assurance Services team serves a critical role in ensuring various high-volume financial transaction streams are completely and accurately recorded. Focused on sales audit, treasury accounting, and reconciliations services, the Transaction Assurance team provides key support to various teams across the enterprise, including Accounting, Treasury, the Field, and Loss Prevention.


The Transaction Assurance team creates business value through three core capabilities:

  • Exceptions Research and Resolution
  • Data Analysis for Business Insights
  • Accounting Excellence

Working under direct supervision, the Transaction Assurance Associate performs various accounting and administrative duties related to transaction reconciliations for sales and other critical business transactions. The primary outcome of this position is to increase profitability through accurate and timely transaction validation and exception handling.

An associate in this position will be proficient in identifying and resolving exceptions and compiling and communicating results for one or more transaction streams. The position requires excellent customer service and timely reporting to management and field. The associate will interact with his/her supervisor several times a week to receive guidance and feedback.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

  • Complete transaction reconciliations accurately and within GameStop’s expected timeframe
  • Research and resolve exceptions using available tools, including Blackline, General Ledger, and POS systems as well as other down-stream systems
  • Communicate clearly, concisely, and timely with field personnel to verify exceptions and resolve discrepancies
  • Convey issues regarding improper POS transaction procedures to field personnel, when necessary.
  • Compile and analyze exceptions trends to deliver reporting and insights to management using Excel
  • Assist supervisor with training of new associates, as necessary
  • Work closely with supervisor to identify process and system-related issues, simplify processes, reduce costs, and prevent loss; follow up to resolution
  • Collaborate within the Transaction Assurance team, assisting with other projects as needed
  • Maintain intradepartmental relationships as it pertains to job responsibilities
  • Display proficient verbal and written communication to internal and external customers

BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A minimum of 4 years work experience may substitute for completed degree.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in accounting-related field
  • Experience working within reconciliation and/or sales audit software preferred (e.g., Blackline, Trintech, Aptos)
  • Retail industry experience preferred
