SUMMARY
Seeking a motivated and driven professional for the entry-level role of Corporate Communications Coordinator to support the implementation of internal and external communications, public relations and corporate social responsibility activities and campaigns that promotes and supports GameStop’s global video game and collectibles businesses. Qualified candidate will work with general supervision and use a wide range of traditional print, broadcast and digital media outlets, social media channels, and online bloggers and influencers to secure business and product placements. This position will serve as an individual contributor within GameStop’s Corporate Communications department and contribute to the company’s overall success through the execution of proactive, direct-to-consumer PR ideas and compelling stories that drive product awareness, understanding and sales by engaging and motivating customers to purchase from GameStop. This position will also:
•    Use the GameStop corporate website as a viable news channel to distribute proactive and reactive company news, including ongoing online content and visual updates.
•    Serve as the liaison with news media contacting the company via the corporate website PR email account.
•    Generate and post stories promoting awareness of the company’s business transformation and strategic initiatives, and corporate social responsibility activities and programs via GameStop’s corporate social media channels. 
•    Support all aspects of the company’s promotional and seasonal themed initiatives that involve media relations outreach activities, internal communications, and live online streaming via emerging channels (e.g. Twitch, Facebook, Instagram, etc.).


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
•    Support the execution of the annual consumer PR and media relations program, including story ideas, pitches and editorial calendars, and clearly defined measurable goals and objectives
•    Contribute to the implementation of GameStop’s multi-faceted, business-to-consumer external and internal communications strategies and programs to drive business results
•    Provide support in skillfully generating positive news media placements within general consumer, retail, consumer goods, video games, collectibles, and entertainment outlets, including national and local broadcast, print, online, and social media
•    Infuse online and social media activities and thinking into all consumer PR and media relations programs and outreach
•    Leverage professional experience in emerging media, with an understanding of how to apply tools and technology to client work
•    Find opportunities to educate peers of digital PR/Social media trends to drive business
•    Play a support role in driving awareness internally and externally of seasonal/themed direct-to-consumer programs, promotions, and product launches
•    Create media materials, organize events and host journalists, bloggers and social media influencers in desk-side briefings
•    Cultivate and maintain solid relationships with journalists, bloggers and social media influencers
•    Serve as a member of GameStop’s media relations team by responding to consumer media inquiries and coordinating interviews with consumer news media outlets
•    Collaborate with Marketing and Merchandising departments to align, develop and support action-generating PR campaigns, media relations activities, and consumer online and influencer outreach programs to drive sales, store traffic and promote the online presence and affinity of GME’s family of specialty retail brands
•    Draft press materials (e.g. news releases, talking points, email pitches, etc.) to promote targeted programs and deals as needed
•    Take on additional tasks/duties as assigned based on department/company needs
•    Leverage PR monitoring tools to develop media wrap-up reports, create and maintain schedule of updated reports based on results of PR campaigns, goals and objectives
•    Serve as a GameStop change agent by delivering influential communications that manages the reputation of GameStop and its family of retail brands

BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)
•    High school diploma or GED required; accredited Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, or corporate communications preferred
•    Minimum of 2 – 4 years of related work experience in consumer media relations and internal and external communications 
•    Consumer PR experience a must; PR agency and retail brand experience preferred
•    Ability to work non-traditional hours, as needed, to accommodate project needs and deadlines

•    Expert media relations and social media skills, with proven product placement contacts and results
•    Ability to work with customers to develop case studies, bylined articles and press stories
•    Experience working with broad cross-section of media/influencers and well-developed skills in building and extending media/influencer relationships
•    Proficient ability to communicate effectively with others using spoken and written English
•    Proficient interpersonal and relationship building skills, including the capacity to predict and manage behavior, build and leverage cross-functional partnerships within and outside of the organization, and respond to pressure in a manner acceptable to others and to the organization

•    Proficient knowledge of general corporate communications, and of Windows-based business computers and Microsoft Office programs; specifically, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word
