Working independently, the Logistics & Transportation Management Director II is responsible for leading all activities for the entire domestic logistics department.  This associate will also be responsible for the management and compliance of all import and export freight movement and shipments.   While directing all domestic inbound and outbound transportation service levels and expense which exceeds $70M per year.  This associate will interact with his or her supervisor and senior leadership as needed.  Most activities are completed without a supervisor’s advance approval. This role is generally characterized by moderately high levels of enterprise-level scope; strategic, functional, and relational complexity, and a high level of independent decision making.


  • Define and exceed target transportation service levels for both inbound and outbound freight movement, as well as meet and exceed standard retail industry metrics on transportation service levels
  • Define and align service level objectives with GameStop strategic plan and mission
  • Lead all transportation functions for all inbound and outbound movement of freight for the U.S. GameStop stores and ecommerce businesses as well as, wholly owned affiliates of GameStop.  This includes all reporting, spend management, carrier management, freight payment tracking and compliance
  • Define the scope, key performance Indicators and service level expectations for various transportation classes.
  • Partner and collaborate with the Indirect Procurement Team to develop requests for proposals to competitively bid transportation service agreements.  Manage service agreements and carrier relationships to the standards as defined in the agreements
  • Drive positive financial outcomes by collaborating and providing guidance to the finance team on the creation of annual freight budget and shorter-term forecasts/variances.  Evaluate performance versus budget weekly and adjust accordingly to maintain within budget/spend parameters
  • Develop weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly reporting of freight estimates.  Partnering with finance and leadership on significant variances to the forecast
  • Lead the logistics planning of in-bound, outbound and any 3PL processing of products, new title releases and major replenishment priorities
  • Build front-end analysis to assist with determine more cost-effective handling (DC vs 3PL) and freight options.
  • Build and promote strong vendor relationships with carriers, 3PL’s, and product vendors
  • Lead negotiations on pricing agreements and contracts for all carriers.  This would include, small package, LTL/TL, international air and ocean, domestic air and expedited
  • Drive carrier and vendor performance evaluations, quarterly business reviews and trends
  • Define inbound and outbound routings and carrier selection based on cost analysis and performance
  • Build and promote strong partnerships with other departments to make appropriate transportation decisions
  • Maintain TMS carrier and routing databases and functions
  • Oversee international shipment coordination, documentation and compliance
  • Lead the maintenance and distribution of Vendor Routing Guides
  • Lead freight payment and auditing functions
  • Innovate new growth opportunities in transportation service offerings to ensure the company maintains a competitive and leading position in transportation services offered to the customer
  • Lead the import and export product compliance teams and operations for the company
  • Manage and file necessary legal and regulatory documents as required by law relating to transportation services and product movement (particularly international freight movement including customs documentation) and Hazmat shipment identification requirements

  • Accredited Bachelor’s degree with a related field of study required; Master’s degree with a related field of study preferred
  • 7 or more years of related experience required in Logistics Management, with at least 5 years of experience at a senior manager or director level with relevant small parcel and import freight experience


  • Proficient knowledge of basic algebra and geometry which includes calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Expert ability to organize, prioritize, and control job responsibilities
  • Flexible to adapt to changing priorities and perform basic task work to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient knowledge of how to operate a personal computer and use required Microsoft Office and other software programs
  • Occasional unaccompanied overnight travel required.
  • Expert ability to communicate effectively with others using written and spoken English including the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback to team members
