Working independently, the IT Director is responsible for directing, integrating, implementing, and operating technology across the a business portfolio.  Most GameStop portfolios consists of mostly in-house hosted systems.  This leadership position will help transform the technology portfolio to serve both existing and new businesses held by GameStop.  This cross-functional director role will need to lead the efforts of ensuring GameStop has the right people, processes and technology needed to monitor and manage and transform the portfolio.  This role defines and grows the business systems IT organization, partners with support to monitor vendor operations, establishes and upholds best practices, manages talent, ensures smooth systems operations, and oversees the success of project delivery. The role utilizes moderate levels of scope and complexity and a high level of independent decision-making.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

  • Leverage a strong background in retail business acumen to partner with business, enterprise strategy and enterprise architecture to facilitate short and long-term systems application roadmaps
  • Oversee negotiation and administration of vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and service agreements
  • Work closely with solution providers and other partners to regularly hold SLA performance assessments.
  • Ensure appropriate KPIs, dashboards and performance metrics are being created, kept, measured and assessed to drive towards vendor management best practices
  • Establish and operate within department budget.  Control expenses and identify opportunities for cost reduction/avoidance
  • Drive outstanding business results through traditional management functions including, but not limited to, sourcing and selecting talent, coaching and development, workforce and project scheduling, performance assessments, and general talent planning
  • Identify, track, and report meaningful performance/progress metrics, and support the team with achieving performance goals
  • Build a reputation for timely delivery of projects, in scope and under budget, balanced with innovation and creativity
  • Engage with the strategy management office to aid in the creation of business cases including, but not limited to IT estimates for scope, time and budget
  • As required, lead the team to develop requirements, evaluate, choose, procure, and manage the migration of legacy systems to a Cloud environment
  • Demonstrate creative, strategic thinking and problem solving; able to exercise independent judgment in a highly complex environment using leading-edge technology
  • Engage in strategic technology planning and align teams and partners with business objectives

BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science Information Systems, Engineering or related field, or equivalent year-for-year work experience in an IT or other related field required
  • 15 years of hands-on experience in Application Development for Enterprise applications
  • 10 years in leadership roles in application infrastructure, platform architecture and system administration, experience of leading a team of project managers, analysts, developers, and architects

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Proficient knowledge of Agile Software (Scrum, Lean, Kanban, etc.) and Waterfall development principles
  • Proficient ability to effectively coach, develop, retain, train, hire, and discipline others in order to produce a successful team
  • Expert ability to communicate effectively with others using written and spoken English including the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback to team members
  • Expert ability to respond favorably to large amounts of stakeholder feedback
  • Proficient understanding of automation concepts: when to automate, when not to automate, and knowledge of the strength and weaknesses of the major automation tools and approaches (including mobile) currently practiced.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others; conducts working relationships in a manner acceptable to others and to the organization
  • Proficient presentation skills to present information to an audience of varying responsibility within the company effectively.
  • Ability to work under demanding time constraints and production goals
  • Expert understanding of all systems to facilitate good technical decisions
