Working independently, the Hyperion Software Engineer is responsible for feature design/development for Hyperion planning, forecasting, budgeting, consolidation and reporting applications supporting the finance and accounting processes for the organization. Software development processes will include requirements gathering and analysis, functional design, technical design, coding, testing, implementation, and post implementation support. This role is generally characterized by high levels of scope and independent decision making, and a high level of technical complexity within rapidly evolving technology and business environments. This role will also be responsible for program management of large scale Hyperion application implementations/integrations/upgrades touching multiple departments and levels of employees.
 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

  • Analyze, design, develop, maintain, monitor and support complex Hyperion applications (both on prem and cloud), to establish and maintain solutions that meet the established business requirements.
  • Provide recommendations to management, based on current and emerging technologies, on methods to reduce costs, improve performance, stability and availability
  • Investigate persistent and complex technology problems and offer practical, sustainable solutions
  • Manage a large variety of potentially competing internal and external relationships expertly.
  • Navigate high levels of ambiguity expertly to deliver immediate short-term value while building long-term Institute capability. 
  • Drive outstanding business results through traditional management functions including, but not limited to, sourcing and selecting talent, coaching and development, workforce and project scheduling, performance assessment, and general talent planning. 
  •  Identify, track, and report meaningful performance/progress metrics, and support the team with achieving performance goals. 
  • Actively build the capability of other team members both onsite and offshore through relevant, timely balanced feedback; coaching and teaching, encouraging mentoring relationships; and using recognition and rewards to reinforce desirable behaviors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Expert knowledge and consulting experience with Oracle EPM, including HFM and PBCS
  • Expert knowledge using the SQL language to extract and manipulate data for analytical purposes (OLAP) from any relational database as well as SSIS/DTS for data integration; SQL Server, Vertica or Google Cloud preferred 
  • Expert knowledge of FDM/FDMEE/ODI for data loads into Planning/Essbase 
  • Expert ability to communicate effectively with others using written and spoken English including the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback to team members
  • Expert ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others; conducts working relationships in a manner acceptable to others and to the organization
  • Expert knowledge of Windows-based business computers and Microsoft Office programs; specifically, Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project and Word – or alternatives
  • Expert ability to work under demanding and potentially stressful time constraints and productivity goals 
  • Expert ability to assertively solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Previous experience in gathering and scrutinizing data to identify issues, opportunities, patterns, and sustainable business solutions
  • Expert ability to analyze and synthesize accurately the business impacts of consumer trends, economic impact, political and legislative impact, social media and cultural influences
  • Previous experience in attention to detail including the ability to reduce a complex concept or task into something that is manageable and clearly interpreted by others responsible for achieving related goals
