As a Creative and Design Manager, Gaming and PC Accessories, you will work alongside a team of creative thinkers to bring ideas to life from concept to product design for a variety of product categories.  You are responsible for working efficiently within the private label team and, as a senior member of the team, delivering strategic leadership in this role.  You will help define deliverables, oversee, and help execute each phase of the design process from research through ideation, and design to prototyping. This person will design best in class private label gaming, PC accessories, technology products and other hardgoods products. 

The ideal candidate for this role is a strong collaborator who has a solid understanding of design, trends, tech, and prior experience creating meaningful and innovative experiences that push the boundaries of what is possible, while adapting to changing demands and constraints.  Key to this role will be serving as the internal link between the external resources (including Licensors, design teams, sourcing agents, factories, and vendors) and the internal stakeholders (including Merchandising, Private Label Design Team, Supply Chain, Logistics, Marketing, Legal, Quality,).  The goal will be to provide our customers with innovative and trend-right product offerings with newness, freshness, and uniqueness only available at GameStop.


Product Ideation

  • Drive innovation and bring newness to the product assortment through thoughtful, trend-right design across multiple product categories:

    • Assist in the development of creative product strategies and lead the design execution to continuously evolve the private label brands.

    • Seize opportunities to differentiate our product offering and lead the market.

    • Identify growth opportunities within both intellectual properties and product categories.

Design Execution

  • Establish the appropriate business processes to execute the design strategies, mapping consumer insights to improve products both in form and function with a sharp focus on achieving financial objectives.

  • Maximize opportunities for designing, enhancing, and upgrading directly sourced products.

  • Contribute as a designer for new products to develop conceptual sketches, graphic designs, print & pattern, 3D renderings, and other deliverables.

  • 3Design and present the best, 5-star, private label products in the industry that customers can only buy at GameStop.

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently to achieve key deadlines.

  • He or she will understand the real world of manufacturing in Asia in general and China and have a practical design approach to maximize the potential of our product designs.

    • Address both creative and technical manufacturing issues while multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.

    • Be the driving force to consistently design quality into product by partnering with the Quality Assurance department and our vendors.

  • Maintain proficient knowledge of current technologies and design trends, staying abreast of new and upcoming technologies and trends in the design community.


  • Maintain communication/relationships with merchandising, internal partners, and private label as well as vendors to ensure adequate resources to deliver designs in a timely manner.

    • Effectively collaborate and communicate with cross-functional partners and business leaders.

    • Clearly and confidently present work while providing rationale for decisions made.

    • Understand the SKU-intensive nature of the business, the candidate may leverage the external design capabilities of our vendors and sourcing.

    • Partner with our Director of Private Label and Global Sourcing to create future product line lists to present to our merchandising teams.


  • Bachelor’s degree with a regionally accredited program or 7+ years relevant work experience

  • 5+ years of related management experience

  • 8+ years of relevant experience or 10+ years for educational equivalency

  • Must have solid sketching and illustration skills, as well as experience with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop

  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite, Keyshot, Maya, Rhion or other digital rendering software

Product Design, Graphic Design, and/or Industrial Design

  • Design experience in home décor, apparel, seasonal products, graphics & patterns is a plus

  • A portfolio of work that contains examples of product development and visual design

  • Experience with Internet culture, gaming, PC accessories and hardgoods branded or private label products

  • Deadline-focused, flexible, easy-going personality

  • Expert knowledge of illustration and popular trends

  • Proficient ability to prototype interactions using design tools or graphic skill sets

  • Expert level attention to detail

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software programs, especially Outlook, Excel, and Word

  • Ability to remain flexible and adapt to changing priorities with promptness, efficiency, and ease

  • If needed, the ability to travel domestically or internationally15% to 20% of the time

  • Knowledge of production methods and various materials

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Previous private label product design experience within a large retailer

  • Previous international sourcing and buying trips.

  • Previous design experience with on gaming and gaming accessory products
