SUMMARY

Working independently, the Product Development Manager is responsible for delivering and developing product for the private label global business. Evaluating the potential and practicality of products in development, they will rely on extensive experience and judgment to hit key milestones and deliver production time and on budget. This position requires exercising independent judgment to perform the responsibilities described herein and will interact within a team of Product Development associates as well as internal and external stakeholders, as needed.  This role is generally characterized with high levels of organizational skills, the ability to manage many moving parts at one time and the need to be results driven to hit deadlines.    

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

  • Play a key role in defining the product roadmap 
  • Facilitate the ideation and development of new features and functionality across multiple business groups
  • Translate strategy and product vision into project deliverables with launch targets
  • Work with senior management to set KPIs, reporting out regularly to stakeholders on progress
  • Work closely with Product Designers, Packaging Designers, Merchants, Licensing and E-commerce on a variety of projects to drive usage and create delightful experiences for consumers
  • Follow market trends to determine new or enhanced product capabilities that positively impact fan experience
  • Balance the priorities of a diverse group of stakeholders 
  • Responsible for thinking about the product across all channels and fandoms 
  • Collaborate with global trade compliance, operations and manufacturers on day-to-day product maintenance
  • Responsible for identifying market size in the preparation of business plans 
  • Owns the performance of the product and is responsible for ensuring that the product achieves its financial objectives, including price negotiating with vendors for the best costs
  • Analyzes financial performance of product for replenishment needs
  • Working with a team of cross-functional resources to develop and own the strategy to maximize profitability, growth, and other strategic objectives
  • Collaborates with dedicated enterprise resources, e.g. Engineering, Supply Chain, Retail, and other teams to optimize the performance of products to attain revenue and margin goals. Also, responsible for monitoring performance (financial, operational, and customer satisfaction) 
  • Manages all life cycle migration strategies and the end of life decision for existing products and services
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally on a case by case basis to meet with suppliers and attend trade shows

BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)

  • Bachelor’s degree merchandising, fashion design, art or related field from an accredited program preferred,
  • 3-5 years of experience in buying, planning, product management within the toy/collectible, apparel, and/or hard home goods segments of the CGP industry

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Expert experience and knowledge driving product development 
  • Expert knowledge of development processes, strategies, and life cycle management 
  • Proficient in developing product strategy and tactics aligned with the corporate strategy and goals
  • Proficient understanding of program management concepts and tools, including technical, innovation process, product management, financial, and operations functions
  • Ability to influence, lead and coach cross-functional teams and champion new concepts and ideas
  • Possess strong abstract creative thinking and analytical skills 
  • High energy and capable of multi-tasking 
  • Ability to operate effectively in a team-oriented and collaborative environment 
  • Process driven and extremely detail oriented 
  • Familiarity and passion around gaming & pop culture
  • Written/verbal communication and presentation skills using spoken English — bilingual (English/Mandarin Chinese) preferred
  • Possess the learning capacity to receive and apply cross-functional training; willingness to assist other functions and work groups as needed so the department achieves or exceeds its overall business objectives
  • Proficient project planning skills, including the ability to organize, prioritize and control job responsibilities in order to meet deadlines in an environment with overlapping and potentially conflicting priorities
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software programs, especially Outlook, Excel (Excel Pivot Tables) and PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge of the consumer products industry and video gaming industries
  • Ability to remain flexible and adapt to changing priorities with promptness, efficiency and ease
