SUMMARY

Working under general supervision, the Pre-owned Merchandising Merchant manages select, traditional merchandising functions for the pre-owned merchandising department. Foci include supply and demand, pricing to maximize revenue and margin, and controlling the in/out flow of trade-in product per the organization’s most vital business needs. The position is also heavily involved in managing external purchasing and wholesaling. The principal business outcome for this role is to maximize the profitable sales from pre-owned through product selection, and pricing, development and maintenance of productive cross-functional relationships throughout the organization. Associate will interact with his or her supervisor as needed by either. Most activities are completed without a supervisor’s advance approval.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*


•         Determine appropriate retail and trade-in prices based upon product supply and demand


•         Manage the pre-owned category margin to meet or exceed company goals


•         Manage category/SKU level inventory levels to company and department goals


•         Gather communications from the new buying team related to upcoming markdowns that may impact pre-owned pricing


•         Manage external purchasing opportunities or wholesale of gaming product in order to maximize possible sales through various vendor partners


•         Assist with analyses of pre-owned reports to determine necessary actions based upon market trends


•         Design/create reports in order to react to needs of department based on current issues


•         Assist the Manager of Pre-owned Merchandising  with the training of new hires and/or seasonal employees

BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)


•         Bachelor’s degree required, with accredited study in business management, merchandising, marketing, logistics, or financial analysis — two years of relevant buying experience in a retail setting may be considered as a substitute


•         4 years of related work experience required; at least two years of purchasing/buying experience in a retail environment preferred


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES


•         Proficient written/verbal communication and presentation skills using spoken English — multilingual (English/Spanish/Mandarin) preferred


•         Proficient ability to meet demanding, evolving and potentially overlapping deadlines


•         Ability to work collaboratively with others; conducts working relationships in a manner acceptable to others and to the organization


•         Possess the learning capacity to receive and apply cross-functional training; willingness to assist other functions and work groups as needed so the department achieves or exceeds its overall business objectives

•         Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Outlook and Word software programs, expert knowledge of Excel


•         Expert knowledge of video games.

•         Ability to recognize discrepancies/errors in written/recorded data/information including the ability to initiate and respond to work errors in a professional manner, working collaboratively and cooperatively with others

•         Ability to remain flexible and adapt to changing priorities with promptness, efficiency and ease
