Under general supervision, the Network Engineer will support GameStop’s on-premises network infrastructure, our retail store network, and hybrid cloud datacenter model. This role is responsible for the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This individual will also analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion, provide end user training where required, and provide architecture recommendations.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

  • Implement new and enhanced technologies into the network
  • Adoption and adherence to current IT policies and processes
  • Design, implement and support load-balancer solutions
  • Design, implement and support Next Generation Firewalls or Unified Threat Management appliances
  • Support the design and analysis of LAN/WAN/WLAN network improvements and enhancements
  • Provide troubleshooting and problem solving support for network issues.
  • Monitor system hardware and software and manage system and service performance.
  • Maintains documentation regarding network configuration, operating procedures, and records relating to network hardware and software
  • Determine capacity and performance planning goals
  • Participate in on-call rotation to respond to needs of a 24x7 environment. Must be flexible to work extended hours when required and be available for periodic weekend work

BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)

  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science or other related degree required
  • At least 5-8 years of experience supporting, installing, configuring and troubleshooting predominant Cisco network environments is preferred
  • At least 2 years supporting public cloud deployments (e.g. AWS, Azure, Softlayer)
  • Cisco CCNA certification required, CCNP/CCDP preferred
  • Related certifications a plus (e.g. Palo Alto, AWS)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Must have industry standard knowledge in LANs, WANs, and WLAN technologies and protocols
  • Working knowledge of hardware should include common router, switch, firewall, VPN, and management platforms such as Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, and Fortinet
  • Ability to think and troubleshoot full OSI stack from L1 though L7 including the ability to help App/Dev teams with application networking concerns
  • Experience managing enterprise IP addressing schemes
  • Network management and troubleshooting skills should include working knowledge of protocol analyzers, change management, and network monitoring systems
  • Strong project management skills. Proficient in managing large network designs
