SUMMARY

Working with general supervision, the Omnichannel Digital Platform, Intern will provide hands-on support for software engineering projects, the ideal candidate is a divergent thinker who understands industry best practices and has experience with multiple coding languages.  The intern should be able to work frequently in small teams to solve problems, explore new technologies, and learn from one another. They are a team player possessing strong analytical as well as technical skills and can communicate the logic behind technical decisions to leadership and present the solutions. They must be comfortable working in an agile environment and can “take the wheel” when necessary. The Intern is responsible for fulfilling tasks set by one or more managers in the assigned department including business-focused projects to research, propose ideas and solutions, and present final project during the internship.  This position interacts with their manager several times a week, perhaps daily, to receive guidance and feedback.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the design, coding, unit testing and documentation of software components and features
  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills with an ability to visualize processes and outcomes
  • Fully embedded in fast pace software agile development teams
  • Participate in sprint planning, demonstrations, and daily scrum activities
  • Reports on progress on daily basis or as required
  • Document and test new software applications
  • Build automation test framework
  • Assess new application ideas
  • Interact with various internal departments to resolve questions regarding program intent, data input, output requirements and inclusion of internal checks and controls, etc.
  • Improving system quality by identifying issues and common patterns, and developing standard operating procedures
  • Receive instructions and guidance from manager regarding required tasks and expected results
  • Enhancing applications by identifying opportunities for improvement, making recommendations and designing and implementing systems
  • Investigating and using new technologies where relevant
  • Understands the overall concept of the company, including the brand, customer, product goals, and all other aspects of service
  • Accepts designated, business-focus projects to research, propose ideas and solutions, and present final project during the internship
  • Engages with internal customers and provides suggestions to management for improving customer service and internal processes

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university in an undergraduate or graduate program
  • Classified as a Senior in an undergraduate program or currently enrolled in a graduate program at the time of internship
  • Business related field of study Business Administration, Computer Science Engineering, or Information Technology
  • A documented GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and present state-required proof of age documents   

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Good Understanding on HTML5, CSS3, JS, Node Js, Java, .Net Core, Spring, Spring Boot
  • Good Understanding on Microservices, Restful services
  • Knowledge on AWS cloud services like EC2, s3, sqs, sns, cloud formation, cloud watch, Dynamo DB, EKS, docker, etc.
  • Knowledge on Build and deployment tools like Maven, Gradle, Gitlab, Teamcity, Octopus, Jenkins
  • Knowledge on Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Knowledge on development IDE’s like VS Code, Eclipse and IntelliJ Idea
  • Demonstrable verbal, written, organizational, and professional skills
  • Demonstrable proficiency with Microsoft Office Tools
  • Prior experience in the retail or gaming industries
