SUMMARY

Providing analysis, insight and guidance to leadership, the Senior Manager, Strategy is responsible for supporting the strategic direction, business development and growth of the organization through conceptualizing, designing, developing, and analyzing the impacts of new business opportunities, strategic initiatives, and all other critical business priorities This position may interact with the direct leader several times a week to receive guidance and feedback.  Requires high levels of autonomy and decision making with limited leader interaction.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

•      •        Interact with internal and external teams to support them in their operations and provide insight and financial analysis to help manage the business and evaluate initiatives.

•      •        Lead analysis of industry trends, analytics, and competitive position. Generate actionable insight from analysis and generate recommendations for new growth

•        Support, and at times lead, strategic initiatives across full lifecycle, from conceptualization, analysis, to execution

•        Prepare and deliver accurate, compelling presentations for executive leaders to help drive decision making, growth, and profitability.

•        Create an environment that welcomes change and fosters high levels of ingenuity and creative thinking, risk management, and collaboration.

•        Plan all elements of team performance, including the acquisition, development, ongoing assessment, and retention of talent needed to achieve GameStop’s global and functional objectives

•        Support the businesses long range financial plan through financial modeling of growth initiatives and other strategic impacts

•        Demonstrate a consistent commitment to field-focused service by prioritizing field-based requests, responding quickly and favorably to field-based feedback, by minimizing tasks, and proactively seeking ways to help store teams focus on customer service as productively as possible

•        Work collaboratively with others within and outside of his or her function to achieve goals, simply processes, reduce costs, prevent loss, and to ensure that work is completed safely, accurately, and on time

•        Drive outstanding business results through traditional management functions including, but not limited to, sourcing and selecting talent, coaching and development, workforce and project scheduling, performance assessment, and general talent planning

•        Create a productive, collaborative work environment by developing a common vision, setting clear objectives, facilitating teamwork, recognizing, and rewarding outstanding performance, encouraging risk tolerance, and maintaining open communications

•        Build organizational capability through continuous improvement activities; originate action to improve existing conditions and processes; identify improvement opportunities, generate ideas, and implement solutions

•        Identify, track, and report meaningful performance/progress metrics, and support the team with achieving performance goals

•        Actively build the capability of others through relevant, timely balanced feedback; coaching and teaching, encouraging mentoring relationships; and using recognition and rewards to reinforce desirable behaviors

BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)

•        Bachelor’s degree in an accredited business administration, economics, finance, or accounting program required

•        4+ years of financial analysis and planning experience required.  Field finance and strategic background preferred, including multi-store level annual budgeting and training, new store pro-forma planning, store opening and closures, monthly financial performance reviews. 

•        Experience in multi-location retail environment and/or mobile industry preferred

•       Strategy Consulting, Mergers & Acquisitions experience, field finance, and strategy consulting experience preferred

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES

•        Skilled at translating vague and difficult problems into discrete analyses and deliverables

•        Proficient understanding of advanced financial analysis techniques using spreadsheet software and statistical analysis

•        Skilled at designing and delivering reports and presentation for executive leadership and succinctly communicating decision points

•        Proficient use of advanced Excel, able to rapidly generate insights from data.

•        Proficient ability to understand complex problems and provide simple and actionable solutions to the users

•        Intellectually curious and willing to take on assignments across multiple functional areas

•        Working presentation skills to present information to an audience of varying responsibility within the company effectively

•        Proficient knowledge of Windows-based business computers and Microsoft Office programs; specifically, Access, Advanced Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, and Word. Knowledge of Think-Cell, Hyperion Essbase and/or Tableau preferred.

•        Proficient project planning skills, including the ability to organize, prioritize and control job responsibilities to meet deadlines in an environment with overlapping and potentially conflicting priorities

•        Demonstrated capacity for gathering and scrutinizing data to identify issues, opportunities, patterns, and sustainable business solutions
