SUMMARY

The Product Owner is responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of the product vision established by the product manager.  The associate in the role is responsible for defining user stories and prioritizing the team backlog to streamline the execution of program priorities while maintaining the conceptual and technical integrity of the Features or components for the team.  This role requires a dynamic, polished individual that can successfully navigate both the business and technical realms of the organization.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

•        Work directly with product management, business sponsors, key stakeholders and agile scrum team(s) to ensure the solution meets the product vision and business objectives

•        Convey the overall product vision to scrum team(s)

•        Translate business needs and set priorities from product roadmaps to guide the work of the Scrum team(s)

•        Communicate ongoing risks, scope trade-offs, and timeline impacts to stakeholders to ensure alignment

•        Manage dependencies in and across sprints and releases

•        Order the items in the product backlog to best achieve goals and business value

•        Ensure the product backlog is visible, transparent, and clear to all, and provides direction on order of the scrum team’s work

•        Actively participate in the scrum team’s backlog grooming session

•        Optimize the value of the work of the scrum team(s)

•        Write user stories and oversee and approve those written by others

•        Split user stories that are too big and oversee this activity

•        Specify and validate the acceptance criteria for each user story

•        Establish SLAs (Service Level Agreements) that address product scale, availability and performance requirements in partnership with the technology teams

•        Participate in daily stand up sessions

•        Participate in product demo sessions

•        Provide acceptance the completion of user stories as they are demonstrated by the scrum team

•        Participate in retrospective sessions

•        Develop subject matter expertise for a GameStop functional area, including:

o   Foster strong partnerships with both the business and technical teams that support the functional area

o   Understand the business processes for the functional area

o   Develop an understanding of the front- and back-end systems that support the functional area’s business processes

•        Participation in the Product Owner community of practice, including:

o   Provide suggestions based on current and emerging methodologies or tools to improve quality, delivery performance and reduce costs

o   Provide guidance and mentorship to newly onboarded Product Owners

BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)

•        A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience required

•        3+ years of related Product Owner/Product Management experience

•        4+ years of direct Agile/Scrum methodology experience

•        Experience in SAFe a plus

•        Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) preferred

•        Proficient using Altassian Confluence/JIRA as an agile software development tool preferred

•        Ability to utilize presentation methods or tools to convey various business or technical objectives

•        Demonstrated ability to navigate organizational dynamics of a large organization

•        Experience in requirements elicitation

•        Knowledge of Retail Systems and processes preferred

•        Participation in groups or affiliations concerned with the development of Business Analysis preferred
