Working with general supervision, the Senior Solutions Architect provides technical knowledge and direction to internal customers and stakeholders for the purpose of solving technology-related business problems. As a member of the Enterprise Architecture team, this role will assist in the creation and maintenance of global application, information and technical roadmaps, and their associated standards. Interlock with Project Management Office, Business Architects and business teams to ensure that solutions are effective and in compliance with the clients overall IT architecture strategy and domain standards.  Individuals in this role will have proven experience in fulfilling a wide range of solution level architecture activities.  This role requires excellent interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge of both Architecture and Retail business.  The Senior Solutions Architect will mentor Solutions Architects who join the team.  Associate may interact with his or her supervisor several times a week, perhaps daily, to receive guidance and feedback. Some non-routine activities may require a supervisor’s advance approval.


• Deliver class leading solution architecture and quality consulting to GameStop

• To assist with the development of GameStop intellectual property; frameworks, accelerators etc. Including creation of Solution Architecture processes, templates, reporting and governance framework

• As the more seasoned role within the Solutions Architecture practice, the Sr. Solutions Architect will lead by example when presenting Solution Designs and dependencies

• Assist Enterprise Architects with the evaluation of commercial-off-the-shelf and partner-provided modified or unmodified solutions

• Assist Enterprise Architects with the development of application and information roadmaps for achieving the defined future state architecture

• Building relationships with project management and development teams in a manner acceptable to others and to the organization; adhere consistently with all organizational policies related to our respectful workplace

• Bachelor of Science with a regionally accredited program in Computer Science or technical equivalent, M.S. in Computer Science or technical equivalent preferred

• 5+ years of experience with architecting IT solutions in one of the following domains: eCommerce, Store Point-of-Sale, Supply Chain, Merchandising, Marketing, Business Intelligence, Finance, HR, including modeling applications, information, integration, and solution deployments; service oriented architecture; retail experience preferred

• 10+ years IT experience, of which at least 5 years must be fulfilling Solution Architecture roles

• Experience in at a minimum of one Architecture framework (e.g. TOGAF, Zachman, MODAF, IAF etc.)

• Development or consulting technical background is preferred (i.e. depth as well as breadth of knowledge)


• Proficient knowledge of owning and creating complete solution architectures

• Proficient ability to produce detailed component specifications as part of a solution architecture

• Proficient ability to provide advice on technical aspects of systems development, integration, disaster recovery, and implementation

• Proficient ability to ensure that technical solutions potential value-add as well as costs are fully vetted

• Proficient ability to produce evaluation criteria used to short list suppliers during product selection

• Proficient ability to present solutions and influence key stakeholders

• Expert ability to engage with business stakeholders and turning requirements into IT solutions

• Proficient ability related to the governance of large projects or programs, the implementation of architectural principles and policies, and participating on design authorities

• Setting Solutions Architecture standards, mentoring other Architects, and creating the framework and supporting collateral to enable the standardization of the Solution Architecture practice.

• Must have good broad supply chain systems and supply chain process knowledge: WMS, order management, EDI/integration, distribution, etc. Understanding both the business processes and the systems processes that enable them.

• The ability to look at and understand existing legacy landscapes and figure out how to enable tactical projects with minimum change, pending the larger strategic programs

• Working knowledge of a technical reference architecture
