We’re the Product Design team at GameStop, and we’re tackling customer problems and reshaping how people discover and engage with GameStop and the gaming community. We’re building a passionate, diverse, multidisciplinary team of world-class designers, who are ready to transform how players shop and experience GameStop. The Product Design team is a collaborative, data-driven, and fast-paced team of designers, ready to take on the challenge of delivering experiences that meet and exceed customer expectations. 


The Role 

This is the beginning, level one for a new design team, talented and hungry, ready and engaged to provide the experiences expected by GameStop patrons. In this role, you will be tasked to guide research to identify customer needs across our digital channels and develop insights to inform and drive our product roadmap and vision. As a Senior UX Researcher you will be responsible for executing research strategies for the product teams that you will collaborate with. The insights you uncover while engaging with customers, internal users and partners will level up the product team's passion for the problems they are solving. 


You are an excellent communicator, a strong and empathetic partner, comfortable in a fast-moving and nimble organization, excited to collaborate, and passionate about understanding people and complex problems.  


Applying your qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods background, you bring a strong history of using your skills in (surveys, experiments, diary studies, interviews and/or focus groups, user testing, and usability studies) as well as secondary and expert methods (such as literature reviews, cognitive walkthroughs, and desk research). 


What You’ll Do 

  • Work with product managers, product designers, engineers and analysts across product teams to generate rich, impactful insights  

  • Apply your expertise in conducting research using a wide variety of quantitative, qualitative, and/or mixed methods, and interpret analysis through the lens of UX, HCI, and social science.  

  • Uncover user needs and business opportunities previously unknown to the organization and build the context needed for crafting new solutions  

  • Synthesize research results and utilize storytelling in creative and compelling ways to inspire teams and help product squads build confidence in their direction  

  • Evangelize the impact of UX research and help cultivate a more informed, engaged, and empathetic.  

  • Strong experience conducting UX research on digital products or services, and a track record of collaborating with product teams to plan and execute research studies  

  • Deep knowledge of the strengths and shortcomings of different research methods.  

  • Ability to think critically about user feedback in order to arrive at recommendations that deliver user-focused outcomes for the team  

  • Naturally inquisitive, positive demeanor, empathy for users, and proven active listening skills  


What You’ll Need 

  • 2+ years of UX research experience and delivery in a consultancy, agency or in-house setting.  

  • Interest in and experience with hands-on primary and secondary research methods in UX Research.  

  • Experience of using a variety of commercial UX Research or VOC software tools.  

  • Strong analytical skills.  

  • Knowledge of UCD principles and best practices.  

  • Experience leading projects that have significant customer and business impacts. 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher degree in psychology, behavioral sciences, HCI, economics, computer science, sociology, information science or similar. 

  • Personable, adaptable, articulate, and collaborative. 

  • Product minded and outcome driven.
