GameStop’s mission is to be the default choice for gamers because we have the games, hardware, accessories and collectibles they want and are trusted to have it in their hands on release day, via their front porch or one of our retail stores. The OMS is a critical component in making this happen. 

As the Software Engineering Manager for OMS, you will build and lead a technical team to deliver new OM capabilities, directly managing both in-house and offshore developers. The ideal candidate has a career path that includes hands-dirty technical implementation of new OMS capabilities at a code level and has grown to lead others in that endeavor. They have esoteric, expert knowledge of OMS sourcing, inventory, and applications. They have seen both good and bad OMS-related solutions and can lead our thinking for a given situation. The ability to clearly communicate complex concepts in written and spoken forms is particularly important in the OM space. 

This is a fully remote or hybrid role – work from any location in the US. GameStop optionally supports relocation to the Seattle or Dallas areas. 


  • You are technical owner of the systems in your space through ideation, requirements, design build, release, and support 

  • You are a technical design leader, balancing concerns like scalability, maintainability, observability to make the best design decisions 

  • In partnership with your product manager, you are driving a technical and strategic vision for your space 

  • Refine requirements and provide solutions, working with both business and other tech teams 

  • Manage the day-to-day robust operation of the OMS, leading your team in incident responses and deep-diving problems. 

  • Ability to manage concurrent projects and initiatives, communicating on status, priorities, and tradeoffs 

  • Drive progress in your programs, finding creative ways to deliver value quickly 

  • Build and manage an inspired and high performing team. Develop their talent and tee them up for success 


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent industry experience 

  • 5+ years hands-on experience with IBM Sterling or Oracle OM in a high-volume e-commerce environment 

  • 3+ years’ experience directly managing individual contributors 

  • Demonstrable system design skills, particularly in OMS customization and integrations 

  • Strong technical understanding of JDBC, Servlets, SOA Architecture, Web Services, JMS messaging, XML, XSLT, XPath and TIBCO integrations 

  • Strong written and spoken communication skills 

  • Strong metrics orientation 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Expert-level experience with IBM Sterling v9 OMS configuration, customization, and integration 

  • Experience with omni-channel e-commerce for a $2B+ retailer 

  • Experience managing developer on-call support 

  • Experience with AWS or other public cloud and its managed services (e.g. k8s, Aurora, messaging)
