Job Description


Under general supervision the International Staff Accountant assists in the month-end close out process, prepares various monthly reports, performs reconciliations and research as needed, analyzes individual entity financial data and assists in daily unforeseen projects in a timely manner. This position will interact with his or her supervisor several times a week, perhaps daily, to receive guidance and feedback. Many non-routine activities will require a supervisor’s advance approval.


  •         Prepare, post and record journal entries to the general ledger for the month-end close on a weekly basis.

  •         Perform monthly reconciliations for holding companies, cash accounts and intercompany accounts among countries and resolve variances.

  •         Perform month-end check schedules and key controls to ensure financial data and system processes are correct.

  •         Process intercompany transactions involving invoicing, currency translation, payment and possible research and problem solving.

  •         Prepare various month end reports such as the fixed asset roll forward, store counts and legal expenses.

  •         Assist in the monthly International consolidation and elimination process, including the related journal entries.

  •         Assist in responding to daily informational requests from country finance directors and managers.

  •         Assist in the quarterly and annual auditors’ reviews.

  •         Maintain the accounting system Fx (foreign currency conversion) rates, period closings, and chart of accounts information.

  •         Participate in responding to questions from senior management during month and quarter end close.

  •         Conduct ad hoc financial analyses related to store & country performance.

•        Bachelor's degree from an accredited accounting program required

•        In pursuit of or eligible to sit for the CPA preferred

•        General accounting experience preferred

•        Must be detail oriented

•        Retail industry experience a plus


  •         Proficient knowledge of Windows-based business computers and Microsoft Office programs; specifically, Access, Excel, and Outlook

  •         Ability to recognize discrepancies/errors in written/recorded data/information including the ability to initiate and respond to work errors in a professional manner, working collaboratively and cooperatively with others

  •         Working knowledge of accounting functions

  •         Detailed oriented and effective at researching issues and problem solving

  •         Working knowledge of project planning, including the ability to organize, prioritize and control job responsibilities in order to meet deadlines in an environment with overlapping and potentially conflicting priorities

  •         Proficient ability to communicate effectively with others using written and spoken English

  •         Possess the learning capacity to receive and apply cross-functional training; willingness to assist other functions and work groups as needed so the department achieves or exceeds its overall business objectives

  •         Possess accurate typing and data entry skills
