SUMMARY

Part of the Accounting Services department, the Transaction Assurance Services team serves a critical role in ensuring various high-volume financial transaction streams are completely and accurately recorded. Focused on sales audit, treasury accounting, and reconciliations services, the Transaction Assurance team provides key support to various teams across the enterprise, including Accounting, Treasury, the Field, and Loss Prevention.


The Transaction Assurance team creates business value through three core capabilities:

  • Exceptions Research and Resolution
  • Data Analysis for Business Insights
  • Accounting Excellence

Working under direct supervision, the Transaction Assurance Associate Analyst performs various accounting and analyst duties related to transaction and general ledger reconciliations for sales and other critical business transactions. The primary outcome of this position is to increase profitability through accurate and timely transaction validation, exception handling, and analysis.

An associate in this position will be a subject matter lead within the team for one or more transaction streams. The associate will assist his/her supervisor in completing special projects, with an emphasis on improving team processes and procedures, monitoring ongoing operations, and expanding reconciliation capabilities. This position requires timely reporting to management and field. The associate will interact with his/her supervisor several times a week to receive guidance and feedback.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

  • Complete transaction reconciliations accurately and within GameStop’s expected timeframe
  • Research and resolve exceptions using available tools, including Blackline, General Ledger, and POS systems as well as other down-stream systems
  • Prepare journal entries for review and process information to meet accounting requirements
  • Prepare monthly General Ledger account reconciliations
  • Complete monthly General Ledger account variance analyses
  • Build and maintain KPI reporting for management review of team operations
  • Compile and analyze exceptions trends to deliver reporting and insights to management, using Excel and Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI
  • Assist management with documenting policies and procedures and training new associates
  • Assist management with special projects, including creating new Blackline reconciliations
  • Proactively collaborate within the Transaction Assurance team and other stakeholders to identify process and system-related issues, simplify processes, reduce costs, and prevent loss; follow up to resolution
  • Maintain intradepartmental relationships as it pertains to job responsibilities

BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of general accounting experience
  • SOX experience preferred
  • Experience working within reconciliation and/or sales audit software preferred (e.g., Blackline, ReconNET, Aptos)
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and optimize the use of technologies preferred
  • Retail experience preferred

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Working knowledge of account reconciliations, credit card processing, and cash management functions
  • Working ability to communicate effectively with others using written and spoken English
