Job Description



Working with general supervision, the Associate Analyst, Transaction Assurance performs various accounting and analyst duties related to transaction and general ledger reconciliations for sales and other critical business transactions. The primary outcome of this position is to increase profitability through accurately and timely completing all assigned reconciliations. An associate in this position will also assist the Transaction Assurance Manager in performing special projects, with an emphasis on improving team processes and procedures and expanding reconciliation capabilities. This position requires timely reporting to management and field. Associate may interact with his or her supervisor several times a week, perhaps daily, to receive guidance and feedback. Some non-routine activities may require a supervisor’s advance approval.


•        Complete transaction reconciliations accurately and within GameStop’s expected timeframe

•        Research and resolve exceptions using available tools, including Blackline, General Ledger, and POS systems as well as other down-stream systems

•        Compile reconciliation results and perform business analysis on trends for management using Excel and Business Intelligence tools

•        Prepare journal entries for review and process information to meet other accounting requirements

•        Prepare monthly General Ledger account reconciliations

•        Assist Transaction Assurance management with training of new associates

•        Collaborate within the Transaction Assurance team to identify and report process and system related issues and improvement opportunities; follow up to resolution

•        Assist Transaction Assurance management with special projects, as necessary, including creating new Blackline reconciliations

•        Maintain intradepartmental relationships as it pertains to job responsibilities

•        Work collaboratively with others within and outside of his or her function to achieve goals, simplify processes, reduce costs, prevent loss, and ensure that work is completed safely, accurately, and on time

•        Analytical Proficiency- Leveraging extensive knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methods to identify, organize, interpret, and report data needed by organizational decision makers to achieve favorable business outcomes

•        Decision Making – Compares data from different sources to draw conclusions and takes action that is consistent with available facts, constraints, and probable consequences.

•        Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

•        Minimum of 1-2 years of general accounting experience; SOX experience preferred

•        Experience working within reconciliation or sales audit software preferred (e.g., Blackline, ReconNET, Aptos)

•        Proven ability to quickly learn and optimize the use of technologies preferred

•        Retail experience preferred


•        Working knowledge of account reconciliation processes, credit card processing, and cash management functions

•        Basic/working knowledge of accounting principles

•        Proficient verbal and written communication skills using basic English

•        Ability to enter, retrieve, analyze, recognize discrepancies, organize, and report electronic financial data.

•        Detail oriented and effective at researching issues and problem solving

•        Proficient knowledge of office computer platforms and applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

•        Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others; conducts working relationships in a manner acceptable to others and to the organization

•        Demonstrated ability to model customer-focused behaviors leading to outstanding customer experiences
