Under minimal supervision, the State Income Tax Accountant will assist with state and federal tax compliance for all GameStop and affiliated business entities and provide audit support as required. The principal business outcome for this role is to ensure that the organization is in compliance with state and local tax requirements.


• Prepares multi-state and local income tax returns for all entities, meeting all deadlines.

• Calculates estimated income tax payments.

• Assists with federal income tax reporting and other compliance.

• Assists with the preparation of income tax provision for book purposes, including maintenance of deferred tax assets and liabilities, work paper documentation, and reconciliation of general ledger accounts.

• Prepares unclaimed property tax returns.

• Prepares scheduled annual reports.

• Researches income tax issues by jurisdiction and summarizes findings.

• Maintains state income tax rates.

• Assists with correspondence related to state and federal tax compliance.

• Assists with state income and federal tax audits.

• Prepares documentation and reports to comply with accounting-related Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.

• Associate’s degree or equivalent (two years of college-level accounting study) required; bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related quantitative business field preferred

• Two or more years of  general accounting experience preferred

• State and federal income tax experience preferred

• Proficient knowledge of CorpTax software preferred

• Must be willing to work some weekends and evenings as required to meet reporting deadlines


• Proficient knowledge of Windows-based business computers and Microsoft Office programs; specifically, Excel, Outlook, and Word

• Proficient quantitative analysis skills, including the ability to interpret, analyze, organize, and report financial data

• Ability to meet multiple, potentially overlapping, deadlines and adapt to changing priorities

• Ability to communicate effectively in basic English to other people throughout the organization, including those with varied responsibilities and varied understanding of accounting principles

• Consistently demonstrates a commitment to GameStop policies and procedures, including but not limited to, attendance, confidentiality, conflict of interest, and ethical responsibilities

• Demonstrated commitment to federal and state statutes and regulatory requirements; adheres consistently to all professional accounting standards and practices
