Working with minimal general supervision, the Senior Engineer, Quality Assurance ensures the practice of software quality within the SDLC process.  Primarily the position is to ensure that applications function in accordance to the business requirements and adhere to best practices as set by the governance authority.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer ensures that validated deliverables always meet design, functional, system requirements of the application under development and/or support.  Additionally, the role is expected to be an active participant in the discovery, design, requirements and delivery of new software and features.  He/She is expected to report the quality of system under test to management using modern test reporting tools and procedures.

  • Test strategy, planning, design and execution of applicable functional acceptance, system integration and performance tests for the system under test.
  • Work with the delivery team to adhere to best practices as defined by the enterprise quality community of practice
  • Technology generalist; ability to switch testing focus across a multitude of technology stacks
  • Query, Analyze and Report on data integrity using ANSI SQL
  • Fundamental understanding of testing cloud hosted applications and cloud native services
  • Fundamental understanding of ETL processes to analyze data source, transformations and targets
  • Maintain lower level environments by coordinating with the delivery and related internal teams
  • Provide quality methodologies to handle complex tasks such as configuration testing
  • Provide quality analytics to management and stakeholders

BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or computer science
  • At least 7 years of Quality Assurance experience required; experience in a retail environment preferred

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Expert understanding of the effects of code changes tested on downstream processes
  • Develop/enhance and document testing methodology. Design a solid test framework where test scripts are reusable and easily maintained. Perform identification and implementation of the test framework, environment, approach, and methodologies which will be used for either automated or manual testing
  • Working knowledge of the software development life cycle
  • Experience testing microservice, service oriented and component-based architectures.
  • Working knowledge of XML, web and native based services (Web API/WCF/Servlets) and cloud based technologies
  • Functional and/or Object-oriented programming experience (ideally .NET/C#/Python/JS)
  • Experience using data driven tests to validate large .NET n-tier architectures
  • Experience with automated testing tools
  • Experience writing light weight SQL statements and database testing skills (ANSI SQL preferred)
  • White box API and/or unit testing experience would be a plus but not required
  • Experience writing automated tests in a Continuous Integration (CI) systems is preferred
  • Proficient ability to communicate effectively with others using written and spoken English including the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback to team members
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others; conducts working relationships in a manner acceptable to others and to the organization
  • Proficient project planning skills, including the ability to organize, prioritize and control job responsibilities in order to meet deadlines in an environment with overlapping and potentially conflicting priorities
  • Proficient with Windows-based business computers and Microsoft Office programs; specifically, Excel, Outlook, Project and Word
