The Senior Payroll Associate’s primary job function is to verify and accurately process employee personnel data and employee hours worked to ensure that employees are accurately paid. Working with direct supervision, the associate will interact with his or her supervisor frequently during each work period. Nearly all but the most routine activities will require a supervisor’s advance approval.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

•         Partner with store, district and regional managers to ensure all employees’ records are received and processed in a timely and accurate manner while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and sensitivity to customers’ needs.

•         Verify accuracy of personnel data, i.e., names, rates of pay, state/local taxation and changes in job codes/wage rates.

•         Compute pay according to company policy, as well as ensure compliance with state regulations.

•         Provide assistance with transfer of funds for lost pay cards; reset access PINs, etc.

•         Maintain working knowledge of payroll concepts and stay up-to-date on changes that may have an effect on payroll processing.

•         Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisor and individuals at all levels of the organization.

•         Work as a team member to maintain the highest quality of customer service and productivity; provide coverage for other team members as needed.

•         Communicate to Payroll Supervisor any issues or problems that may arise.

BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)

•         High School Diploma or GED required

•         At least 5 years previous payroll experience required,

•         Experience utilizing Workday and/or Kronos preferred

•         Experience in a retail or similar environment with high volume multi-state exposure preferred

•         Must be able to work additional hours during peak seasons and when special payroll projects are required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES

Proficient ability to communicate effectively with others using spoken and written English

Proficient understanding of basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide)

Proficient customer service skills

Ability to recognize discrepancies/errors in written/recorded data/information including the ability to initiate and respond to work errors in a professional manner, working collaboratively and cooperatively with others

Working knowledge of state/federal government regulations, standard payroll concepts, practices and procedures

Working knowledge of Windows-based business computers and Microsoft Office programs; specifically, Excel, Outlook, and Word

Possess accurate typing and data entry skills
